MASSIVE congratulations to Andy Matthews on achieving his sponsored run yesterday and raising over £1500 in memory of his Dad and my brother NICK.

Being his Aunt, I had known Nick since he was a baby. As soon as he was able to, he was up and running about regardless of the Polio which had struck him down at the age of one year. Although he had an older brother Nigel and a younger brother Simon, he always managed to keep up with them in whatever they got up to! As Nick grew up, he became interested in baking cakes at home with his mum. I thought for a while he might want to make catering his career. However, he made a wise choice, from what I know, and became a school teacher. He was very popular and always took an interest in the children and was well liked. I also know that Nick liked to play a few tricks on people sometimes, not least his mother! He paid her a visit on her birthday a few years ago to take her present. When they had said their goodbyes and she had closed the door, he put some garden gnomes along a flower border. When she saw them there the next day, she was horrified - she disliked garden gnomes intensely! Kaye guessed who the culprit was!! Nick will be sadly missed but warmly remembered for his interest in so many things and also his great sense of humour. With love, Auntie Marion (Preston)

It's 2 months since you were cruelly taken from us. Would give anything to have you back in our lives. Thank you for so many great memories. Sail On, dear Brother.
